    Port Overview

All Other Algeria Ports, beyond Algiers, include key facilities such as Oran, Skikda, Bejaia, Annaba, Djen-Djen, Arzew, and Mostaganem, all located along Algeria’s Mediterranean coastline. These ports vary in size, with Skikda and Oran ranking among the largest after Algiers, and serve as vital gateways for general cargo, hydrocarbons, and industrial goods. Their strategic locations support regional trade and connect Algeria to major Mediterranean and international shipping routes. Combined, these ports handle significant container traffic, with annual TEU capacities ranging from tens of thousands up to over 100,000 per port.

    Facilities & Infrastructure

All Other Algeria Ports feature a mix of general cargo, multipurpose, and energy terminals, supporting bulk, container, and liquid cargo operations. Key facilities include container terminals, bulk cargo berths, and oil and gas handling areas. Equipment typically comprises mobile and gantry cranes, reach stackers, and forklifts. While most ports use conventional cargo handling, major facilities are upgrading with modern cranes and digitalized systems; AGVs are not yet widely deployed.

    Container Terminals

Algeria’s main container terminals outside Algiers are at Oran, Bejaia, Annaba, Djen-Djen, and Skikda. Most have 2–4 container berths each, with annual capacities ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 TEU. Automation is generally low, with ongoing modernization focused on equipment upgrades and digital tracking. Major operators include state-owned port authorities such as EPAL (Algiers), Enterprise Portuaire d’Oran, and Enterprise Portuaire de Bejaia. Private international operators have limited involvement.
