    Port Overview

    Bangkok, officially Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, is Thailand's capital and most populous city, strategically located in the Chao Phraya River delta in central Thailand. The city covers 1,568.7 square kilometers and serves as home to approximately 10 million people, with over 17.4 million in the greater metropolitan region. Positioned at coordinates 13°45'N, 100°30'E, Bangkok sits approximately 25 kilometers from the Gulf of Thailand. As Thailand's primary port city and economic hub, it serves as a critical gateway for Southeast Asian maritime trade, handling significant container traffic through its port facilities that connect regional and international shipping routes.

    Facilities & Infrastructure

    Bangkok Port (Khlong Toei) features two main container terminals, 15 inbound and 2 outbound warehouses, bonded and dangerous goods facilities, and a free zone. The port has 8 berths at the east quay and 10 at the west quay, with a quay length of 3,100 meters and a depth of 8.2 meters. Key equipment includes 14 rail-mounted gantry cranes, 36 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, 35 top loaders, 25 empty container stackers, and over 200 forklifts. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are not currently in use.

    Bangkok’s main container terminal, Khlong Toei Port, has 8 container berths at the East Quay and handles around 1.26–1.5 million TEU annually. The port is managed by the Port Authority of Thailand and features moderate automation, with digitalized operations and computerized management systems but not full automation. Major operators include the Port Authority of Thailand and private terminals such as Unithai Container Terminal. The port is undergoing upgrades to enhance efficiency and smart port capabilities.
