Bell Bay is a major deep-water port located on the eastern shore of the Tamar River in northern Tasmania, just south of George Town. As Tasmania’s main port, it features nine operational berths and handles a diverse range of cargo, including containers, bulk, and general cargo. Strategically important for the state’s forestry, minerals, and manufacturing industries, Bell Bay is also a key export hub for aluminum and other metals. Its annual container throughput capacity is approximately 100,000 TEU, supporting both domestic and international trade.

The port is equipped with multipurpose cargo handling equipment, modern container infrastructure, mobile and fixed cranes, and dedicated storage facilities. It supports 24/7 operations, offers direct rail and road links, and provides ship maintenance services. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are not currently listed among its equipment.
