Fujairah is the UAE’s strategic Indian Ocean gateway, renowned for its historic fort, beaches, and mountain landscapes.

Fujairah is the only emirate of the UAE located entirely on the eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman, covering approximately 1,450–1,580 sq km. It ranks as the fifth-largest emirate by area. Strategically positioned just outside the Strait of Hormuz, Fujairah provides the UAE’s only direct access to the Indian Ocean, making its port a vital global shipping and bunkering hub. The Port of Fujairah handles over 1 million TEU annually, supporting its role as a key logistics and oil storage center in the region.
Fujairah, on the UAE’s eastern seaboard, is a major multipurpose port with key terminals for containers, general cargo, RoRo, cruise, and oil. Its facilities include two breakwater berths—southern for general cargo and vessel repair, northern for oil—plus deep-draft jetties handling vessels up to VLCC size. The port features advanced cargo handling equipment, including high-capacity bulk loaders (2,000–4,000 tons/hour), modern cranes, and infrastructure for AGVs, supporting efficient container and bulk operations. Fujairah is also the world’s second-largest bunkering hub and a leading oil storage center, with extensive tank farms and blending services. Ongoing expansions aim to increase capacity and accommodate larger vessels.
Fujairah’s container terminal, operated by Fujairah Terminals (a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports), features 1,000 meters of quay with 4 berths. The terminal has a current annual capacity of 720,000 TEUs, with plans to expand to 1 million TEUs by 2030. Automation includes advanced IT systems, STS post-Panamax quay cranes, and e-RTGs, supporting efficient operations. Abu Dhabi Ports is the major operator, managing all container and general cargo activities.
Fujairah, UAE, offers direct access to the Indian Ocean, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, and serves as a vital hub for oil exports, bunkering, and general cargo. It is connected by road and the Etihad Rail network to major UAE ports like Khalifa Port and Jebel Ali, enabling efficient cargo movement across the region. Fujairah supports east-west shipping routes, serving markets in Asia, Africa, and Europe, and is integral to global energy and trade supply chains.
