Jebel Ali Port, located in Dubai on the southeastern coast of the Persian Gulf, is the largest port in the Middle East and one of the world’s top ten busiest container ports. Its strategic location supports both regional and global trade, making it vital for the UAE’s import, export, and re-export activities. In 2023, Jebel Ali handled approximately 14.5 million TEUs annually, reinforcing its position as a global maritime leader.
Facilities & Infrastructure
Jebel Ali Port features three main container terminals, including the highly automated Terminal 3, equipped with advanced ship-to-shore cranes, automated stacking cranes, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The port offers extensive container yards, cold storage, general cargo, and breakbulk facilities. It handles over 19 million TEUs annually and accommodates the world’s largest vessels with deep-water berths, ensuring efficient cargo handling and rapid vessel turnaround.
Container Terminals
Jebel Ali Port in the UAE operates four main container terminals with over 100 berths and a total annual capacity of approximately 19.4 million TEU. Terminal 1 has 15 berths, Terminal 2 has 8, Terminal 3 has 5, and Terminal 4 is expanding capacity further. Terminal 3 is one of the world’s largest semi-automated terminals, featuring advanced automation. The major operator is DP World, overseeing all container operations.
