Port Overview
Limassol is located on the southern coast of Cyprus, along Akrotiri Bay, and serves as the island’s principal port. It is the second largest city in Cyprus and the largest coastal city, with a population of around 235,000. Limassol’s port is the busiest and most significant in Cyprus, acting as a key gateway for trade between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The port handles approximately 500,000 TEU annually, underscoring its strategic importance in regional maritime logistics.
Facilities & Infrastructure
Limassol Port features a dedicated container terminal operated by Eurogate and a multipurpose terminal managed by DP World, serving containers, general cargo, break-bulk, Ro-Ro, and cruise vessels. Key facilities include five quays with depths up to 14 meters, five ship-to-shore cranes, 26 straddle carriers, heavy forklifts, trailers, and 140 reefer plugs. The port supports efficient cargo handling and passenger services, but does not currently deploy AGVs.

Limassol’s container terminal features 2 main berths with a total quay length of 800 meters and a depth of 16 meters. The annual handling capacity is approximately 500,000 TEU. Automation is moderate, with modern IT systems and equipment but not fully automated operations. The major operator is Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol, under a long-term concession, while DP World operates the adjacent multipurpose terminal.
