Mundra Port, located on the northern shores of the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat, is India’s largest commercial and container port. Spanning a vast area, it ranks as the top Indian port by cargo volume and is among the world’s leading container ports. Its strategic location offers direct access to major global shipping routes and efficient connectivity to India’s northern hinterland. Mundra handles over 155 million tonnes of cargo annually and has a container handling capacity of up to 8 million TEUs, making it a critical gateway for India’s international trade.

Facilities & Infrastructure

Mundra Port operates 26 berths across multiple specialized terminals with a total capacity of 228 MMTPA. The facility includes four container terminals handling 7.5 million TEUs annually, equipped with deep-water berths up to 19 meters draft. Key infrastructure comprises an automated liquid terminal with 97 tanks storing 464,000 KL, dedicated coal and bulk cargo terminals, and automobile handling facilities. The port features 8 Goliath cranes for steel handling, advanced storage including 223,520 square meters of covered godowns, and 3.1 million square meters of open yards for various cargo types.

Container Terminals

Mundra Port in India operates five container terminals with a total of 12 berths and an annual handling capacity of approximately 8 million TEUs. The terminals feature advanced automation for efficient cargo movement and vessel turnaround. Major operations are managed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), the country’s largest private port operator. The port is expanding further with new berths to meet rising container volumes.
