Nha Trang is a coastal city in Khanh Hoa Province, South Central Vietnam, covering approximately 252.6 square kilometers. It ranks as a mid-sized Vietnamese city, with a population around 350,000. Strategically, Nha Trang serves as a gateway to South Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, benefiting from direct access to road, rail, air, and seaport infrastructure. The port’s annual TEU capacity is modest compared to major Vietnamese ports, typically handling under 100,000 TEUs, supporting regional trade and tourism rather than large-scale international container traffic.
Nha Trang Port primarily serves as a passenger and tourist port, with its main facility being Ana Marina, Vietnam’s first international-standard yacht marina, offering berthing for up to 220 yachts. The port’s cargo operations have been largely shifted to Van Phong Port, so Nha Trang no longer handles significant cargo volumes or containerized freight. The port is not equipped with large container cranes, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), or major cargo handling equipment.
Nha Trang Port has several berths, with a channel depth of 11.1 meters and can accommodate vessels up to 20,000 DWT. The port area is 80,000 m², including 50,000 m² of open storage. Container handling capacity is limited compared to major Vietnamese ports, and automation is minimal, with operations largely manual. The main operator is Nha Trang Port Joint Stock Company. The port primarily serves general cargo and regional container traffic.
