Port Overview

The Panama Canal is an 82-kilometer artificial waterway connecting the Caribbean Sea with the Pacific Ocean through the Isthmus of Panama. Facilities & Infrastructure

The port is equipped with modern ship-to-shore gantry cranes, mobile cranes, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for efficient container movement. Container Terminals

The Panama Canal Pacific sector features two major container terminals. Panama Ports Company - Balboa operates five container berths equipped with Post-Panamax and Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes, handling 2.5-3 million TEUs annually with expansion plans to reach 6.5 million TEUs. PSA International Terminal has one pier dedicated primarily to containerized cargo. Both terminals utilize advanced crane technology and rail connectivity to Atlantic-side facilities. Balboa collaborates with eight major container lines and serves over 6,500 vessels yearly, making it Panama's busiest Pacific container hub.
