Port Dickson is Malaysia’s premier coastal resort town, renowned for its beaches and military heritage.

Port Dickson is located on the Strait of Malacca, about 90 km south of Kuala Lumpur, in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. As the state’s second largest urban area, it plays a strategic role due to its proximity to major shipping lanes and the presence of oil refineries along its coast. While historically significant as a port for tin exports, its current port operations are limited, and it does not rank among Malaysia’s top container ports. Annual TEU capacity figures are not publicly reported, reflecting its minor role in containerized cargo handling.
Port Dickson is developing Malaysia’s first AI-based container port, featuring deepwater berths capable of handling the world’s largest container ships. Key facilities will include automated container terminals, advanced cargo handling systems, and predictive maintenance technologies. The port will be equipped with modern cranes and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to ensure efficient, high-capacity operations. These facilities are designed to support seamless, technology-driven cargo movement and enhanced security.
Port Dickson is developing Malaysia’s first AI-based container terminal, featuring advanced automation for efficient container handling and predictive maintenance. The terminal will be built on a 192-hectare site with deepwater access, capable of accommodating the largest container ships. The number of berths and final handling capacity are yet to be determined. Major operators include Tanco Holdings (80% stake) in partnership with the Negeri Sembilan state government.
