Facilities & Infrastructure
Progreso, Mexico features a specialized container terminal operated by APM Terminals, a major grain terminal, a cruise and ferry terminal, and a hydrocarbon terminal. The port has ten berths, dry and refrigerated storage, and two multipurpose piers. Equipment includes mobile harbor cranes, such as the Terex Gottwald G-HMK 5506 with a 125-ton capacity. The terminal uses automated gates for container processing but does not currently employ AGVs.

Port of Progreso operates a specialized container terminal with 10 berths capable of handling vessels up to 40,000 tons. The facility currently processes over 54,000 TEUs in the first half of 2024, averaging 22 vessel arrivals monthly. APM Terminals, a Maersk subsidiary, is the primary operator managing container operations. The terminal features ship-to-shore cranes and is undergoing expansion to deepen the channel to 47 feet, enabling larger vessels and enhanced capacity with advanced technology for improved operational efficiency.
