Valletta, Malta’s main container terminal is Valletta Gateway Terminals (VGT), featuring 5 berths with a total quay length of about 1,000 meters. The terminal has an annual capacity of approximately 200,000 TEUs. Automation is limited, with operations relying mainly on conventional equipment such as reach stackers and forklifts. Major operator is Valletta Gateway Terminals Ltd., a joint venture between Portek International and the Tumas Group.
