    Vung Tau is a coastal city in southeastern Vietnam, located on a peninsula about 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City. Covering approximately 141 km², it ranks among Vietnam’s top ten largest cities by population. Vung Tau holds strategic importance as a major gateway for international shipping, a center for offshore oil extraction, and a key port serving southern Vietnam. The port complex, including Cai Mep–Thi Vai, handles over 5 million TEU annually, making it one of the country’s busiest container hubs.

    Facilities & Infrastructure

    Vung Tau, Vietnam features seven major container terminals, primarily in the Cai Mep and Thi Vai areas, with a combined annual capacity exceeding 10 million TEUs. Key facilities include deep-water berths, container yards, warehouses, and a cargo irradiation center. The port is equipped with advanced ship-to-shore cranes, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and modern logistics infrastructure, enabling efficient handling of mega vessels and diverse cargo types. Long Son International Port further supports domestic container shipping and logistics.

    Vung Tau’s container terminals, primarily within the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port Complex, feature over 20 operational berths and can handle ultra-large vessels. The complex has a total annual capacity of nearly 6.5 million TEU. Automation levels are high, with advanced cargo handling equipment and integrated IT systems. Major operators include TCIT, CMIT, and TCCT, with global shipping lines such as CMA CGM regularly calling at the port.
