The City of Tulsa – Rogers County Port Authority operates the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, one of the largest and most inland river ports in the United States. Situated at the head of navigation for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Northeast Oklahoma, the port has strategically leveraged its inland position to serve as a critical multimodal freight hub. Utilizing barge, rail, and truck transport, it efficiently moves agricultural commodities, petroleum products, building materials, and machinery to and from the region. The port is anchored by a 2,000-acre industrial park, home to around 70 companies that collectively employ approximately 3,000 workers. Since opening in 1971, the Tulsa Port of Catoosa has handled over 82 million tons of freight and typically sees more than 1,000 barges annually. Its operations have significantly boosted the regional economy, fostering industrial growth and supporting Oklahoma's integration into national and international supply chains. As a public entity, the Port Authority emphasizes financial independence, infrastructure development, and job creation, continually adapting to enhance logistics and industrial development in Northeast Oklahoma.
