    Overview

The New Madrid County Port is a multimodal inland port strategically located on the upper-lower Mississippi River at mile 885. Situated just a half mile off Interstate 55, it lies approximately 110 miles north of Memphis and 175 miles south of St. Louis, offering direct connections by barge, rail, and truck. The port features a 1,500-foot slack-water harbor, protected from adverse river conditions and benefiting from annual dredging to maintain a 9-foot channel depth. Encompassed by the 4,200-acre St. Jude Industrial Park, the port sits on elevated land that remains uninterrupted by floods or ice, ensuring reliable year-round operations. With around 20 acres immediately available for lease and further expansion possible in the industrial park, the port supports diverse industrial and agricultural activities. Enhanced enterprise zone incentives, robust utilities, natural gas, and proximity to the New Madrid County Airport further establish it as a business-friendly logistics hub. Key commodities handled include bulk grains, rice, fertilizer, salt, and barge lids, making it a critical node in the U.S. inland waterway freight system.
