    Overview

The Port of Columbia County, formerly known as the Port of St. Helens, is a key economic engine located along a 51-mile stretch of the Columbia River in northern Oregon. Established in 1940, the port spans from the Clatsop County line in the northwest to the Multnomah County line in the southeast, encompassing several communities, including St. Helens, Scappoose, and Rainier. Governed by an elected Board of Port Commissioners, the port’s mission focuses on promoting economic growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing job opportunities within the region. Its eight industrial properties provide a mix of highway, rail, airport, and maritime access, catering to diverse industries from forest products to agricultural commodities. In addition to its commercial operations, the Port manages recreational facilities such as the Scappoose Airport, Scappoose Bay Marine Park, and Bayport RV Park & Campground. Its combination of transportation infrastructure and industrial acreage makes it a strategic hub for regional trade, supporting both local economies and broader West Coast supply chains.
