    West

    Overview

The Port of Kalama is a strategically located deep-water port situated on the banks of the Columbia River in southwest Washington. Its proximity—just 30 minutes north of Portland, Oregon, and only 75 river miles from the Pacific Ocean—has made it a crucial hub for both national and international trade. As the second-largest grain exporter on the West Coast and ranking among the top exporters nationwide, the port is a significant contributor to the regional and broader U.S. economy. It hosts over 40 companies and employs more than 1,400 people across an array of sectors, including bulk cargo export, manufacturing, distribution, and rail logistics. The port is recognized for its efficient operations, vast riverfront industrial acreage, and move-in-ready industrial facilities. Its impact extends beyond commerce; the Port of Kalama also supports recreational and community development, enhancing the quality of life for the local population. The port has served as a vital gateway for trade for over a century, continuing to attract businesses with its robust infrastructure and seamless connections by water, rail, and interstate highways.
