The Northwest Seaport Alliance is a major marine cargo operating partnership, uniting the ports of Seattle and Tacoma in Washington State. Established in 2015, this alliance is the fourth-largest container gateway in North America and serves as a critical hub for both international and domestic trade across the Pacific Rim. Its facilities are strategically located to enable shortened U.S.-to-Asia transit times and efficient links to Alaska, handling 80% of all trade between Alaska and the contiguous United States, as well as being a key facilitator of trade with Hawaii. The alliance drives significant economic impact, with more than $73 billion in international trade passing through its terminals, supporting over 48,000 jobs and generating $4.3 billion in local revenue. Notably, The Northwest Seaport Alliance has received recognition for its commitment to environmental stewardship through initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and promoting sustainable port operations. As a vital trade gateway for goods moving from the U.S. to Asia and other global markets, the alliance’s role in Pacific trade makes it an indispensable link in global supply chains. Modernization plans and streamlined operations further enhance its status as one of the most significant seaport collaborations in North America.
Most terminals operate from Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm; additional night and weekend gates are scheduled as needed, subject to vessel schedules and operator announcements.
